5 Reasons Why You Should Hire an Interior Designer

Your home, office, or commercial property represents a significant investment of time, effort and money.  But, to put your best foot forward, it needs to reflect you – your warmth, personality and professionalism.   Hiring a professional designer is an insurance policy, a guarantee that your space will produce the exact effect you are after.  A good designer can:

1. Save Money

Some of us are conditioned to believe that interior designers are expensive, providing only highly priced items and adding a pricey “design fee” on top of that.  But in reality, a good designer will help you avoid mistakes, which can be very costly.  And at the completion of the project, everything “goes together”, looks professional, makes you feel good, and perhaps even increases your property’s value!.

2. Prepare a Design Plan

Good designers, like Arrange, spend time determining customers’ needs, wants and budget.  We don’t invoke our styles on you, but determine your style, how you live in the space, and how you want to feel in the space.  From that we develop a detailed Design Plan that includes all aspects of the project – our “roadmap”.  This design plan ensures that the project proceeds without detours, backtracking and mistakes that are both costly and frustrating.  The design plan creates realistic expectations and eliminates unpleasant surprises.

3. Save time

Your time is valuable, and usually in short supply, often making it impossible for you to make the time investment that is needed to transform your space.  Designers spend a goodly portion of their time acquiring resources, whether it be skilled tradesman, or materials procured from ‘to the trade only’ suppliers.  And they perform all of the shopping tasks and insure that those items they select will work well within the Design Plan.  Perhaps the most significant thing they bring to the table, aside from their design expertise, is their management expertise.  They coordinate, negotiate, schedule and handle all aspects of the project.  It’s a turnkey process:  you work with the designer to create that Design Plan, and then the designer makes sure it’s implemented accordingly.

4.  Stay on Budget

Using that initial Design Plan, good designers prepare a detailed cost sheet listing all items, including materials, fabrication, installation, shipping, tax, etc.  This tracks the progress and cost of the project.  If financial constraints dictate, the project can be broken down into smaller pieces – “phases” – allowing the designer to work within the budget you have agreed upon.

5. Create the Wow Factor

Finally, a designer’s goal is to create that “wow” factor that you haven’t been able to achieve alone. You may not know how to pull this off, but a designer is trained to think spatially and totally “outside the box”, with a creative and artistic eye, and envision the end result.

So, as you can see, it is not that you cannot afford to hire an interior designer, it is more than you cannot afford not to!  In the long run, you will be much more satisfied with the results and happier in the space.  And, since your surroundings will now mirror your personality, this process will have increased your sense of well being.  Aren’t you worth it?
